What is Cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a waxy, fat like substance found in our cells and blood stream as well. The right level of cholesterol is a maximum of 200 mg/dL (deci liter) or less and HDL of minimum 40mg/dL or more. Cholesterol is not calculated by body weight though if you are over weight you probably have high bad cholesterol level.

There are a number of cholesterol drugs available on the market out of which some can be obtained over the counter however you absolutely need to consult your doctor before you start taking any cholesterol medication.
