Avoiding High Cholesterol Food

It is important to reduce cholesterol in your diet if you are experiencing high cholesterol. The best way to get at that overabundance of cholesterol is, of course, to take a look at your high cholesterol food consumption and alter it to reduce the amount of that food in your diet. You should replace it with better options and even consider coupling your dietary changes with a type of medication that could help the process of those foods in your system. You can change the way your system works with a few changes in your diet and by adding some healthy medication from your doctor.

A diet high in saturated fats is mainly the cause of a high cholesterol food diet, so taking a look at the saturated fat content in your diet is a good place to start. Eating foods high in cholesterol also help raise the level of cholesterol in your diet, of course, but it is the saturated fats that are actually most harmful in terms of a high cholesterol food. It may sound confusing at first, but with a little look at the foods we eat that are high in saturated fats it will become clearer as to what the connection is. A careful dietary change to lower the levels of both food types is beneficial.

Getting Rid Of The Fat

Some of the most popular types of high cholesterol food seem innocent at first, but a closer look at their content actually reveals a shocking amount of cholesterol. One boiled egg, for example, has about 225mg of cholesterol in it. Butter, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and ice cream are all high in cholesterol, too. While that may be heartbreaking to hear, they are the facts. Other foods high in cholesterol are items like lamb and beef or steak as the proteins add up to more cholesterol for your body. Taking a good look at the amount of these food types in your diet can be a good lesson in controlling your food intake.

Avoiding high cholesterol food is one part of the battle. The other part is integrating more foods that are low in cholesterol. These foods include vegetables, fruit, grains, nuts, seeds, and vegetable oil. A careful integration of more of those foods and less of the high cholesterol food types will help lower your overall levels and will help cut down on the dangerous saturated fats as well.
